Verizon launches VZ Navigator 5.0; still wants to charge for it
Author: admin5 Feb 2010

VZ Navigator seems to be well and kicking but for how long? Verizon does have a huge customer base but soon they’re all going to look around and realize everyone else is getting this service free. But hey, at least they have some extra features that you don’t get with Google Maps or Nokia’s Ovi Maps which are both free.
VZ Navigator 5.0’s biggest catchy feature seems to be the Facebook integration which lets you update your status via the application and optionally share your location with them – making it yet easier for your stalkers to track you down. There are some other enhanced features with this version too such as crowd sourcing of traffic information, voice recognition for search and destination, and quicker navigation start due to streaming of data.
Here is the bad part: VZ Navigator costs $10/month, or $3/day. If you’re one of those customers who pay $10/month tell us your reasons please. Maybe your company is paying for it, maybe it is the only navigation app available on your phone.. Whatever it is, we want to know.
Verizon Motorola Droid gets 2.0.1 software update

Just one month after the release of the Motorola Droid, the first software patch has arrived. Verizon has just begun distributing the OTA update – so if you aren’t seeing the update alert already, you should be seeing it before too long.
First things first, make sure your device is up to at least a 40% charge (or 20%, if it’s currently plugged into a power source), as you won’t be able to upgrade otherwise. After that, it’s just a matter of waiting around for the update to land on your device – or if you’re feelin’ antsy, try manually updating (”Home” > “Menu” > “Settings” > “About phone” > “System updates”).
Check after the jump for the change log.

Trojan Email attacks Vodafone and Verizon customers
Author: admin23 Nov 2009
Customers of Vodafone and Verizon shall get yourself aware of a spam email which carries a Trojan and will be arriving at your inbox anytime. The email will come in the form telling you that your account has exceeded the limit. This email looks like it’s coming from Verizon or Vodafone with the subject “Your credit balance is over the limit” and also offers an attached “balance checker” for you to verify your payments.
But actually the so-called “balance checker”, which is a zip file, is actually a Trojan that can do more damage. The email also contains sentences such as “Please use the attached Verizon (or Vodafone) Balance Checker Tool to review and analyze your payments” ,to lure you into opening it. Once you open the attachment, you’ll then get infected with a Trojan called Regrun.
Verizon’s Samsung Omnia II launching December 2 for $200
Author: admin20 Nov 2009

It may no longer be the first to launch in North America (that distinct honor now belongs to Bell), but we can finally say with some confidence that Verizon’s version of the Samsung Omnia II isn’t that far off. No, seriously: we’ve managed to get a peek at the carrier’s launch pack for the phone, and the big details here are that it’ll be launching in all channels (meaning telesales, online, and in-store) on December 2 for $199.99 on contract after a $100 mail-in rebate. That pricing puts it solidly in the upper echelon of Verizon’s offerings these days, yes — but when you consider that it’s got a 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED display, 8GB of internal storage plus microSD expansion, 5 megapixel cam, and WinMo 6.5 Professional (allaying earlier concerns that 6.1 would be on shipping units), we think they can justify the outlay. Especially if you can resist the pull of a Droid Eris for a Benjamin cheaper once you set foot in the store, of course.
Don’t shop drunk: Verizon’s $350 ETF is now live
Author: admin16 Nov 2009

Just a word of caution to anyone out there with an itchy credit card finger: signing up for a contract with Verizon just became a considerably more binding affair thanks to a big boost of its contract early termination fee from $175 to $350. Rumored for a few days now, the change became official as of yesterday, which means that anyone who bought an "advanced device" prior to the 14th is in the clear. The advanced device list can be found on Verizon’s site, and as you might expect, it’s a little broad and ridiculous — winners like the Versa, Exilim, and Glyde are on there, so they’re obviously not just referring to smartphones. They throw you a bone by reducing the ETF by a stout $10 for every month of the contract you successfully hurdle, but that still leaves you with a $120 ETF 23 months into a 24-month deal… so yeah, just be careful out there and don’t do anything rash, alright

Verizon already prepping DROID and DROID Eris firmware updates?
Author: admin10 Nov 2009

That you have a few short days after a launch is a litany of problems plaguing devices in the field, but it is not entirely what yesterday – listen instead of this, which is an extension of Verizon are known political shit since devices testing are practically Uncle wines to the manufacturer. The carrier has already generated internal questions about the DROIDEN long lists and DROIDEN Eris, it seems documents removed revealing for the HTC one of the five pages for Motorola product and seven – Yes, be-; the good news is that you all are provided in one of two updates firmware, which provided to resolve Windows for December and January. Remained again know Verizon this firmware updated could obtain very well in the laboratory test for six years, but we will keep skyward our hopes.
Verizon takes another swing at AT&T, puts iPhone on the Island of Misfit Toys
Author: admin8 Nov 2009

AT&T might be suing Verizon for misrepresenting its network in ads, but that doesn’t seem to have dissuaded Big Red from using that same map image in this new spot, which casts the iPhone away to the Island of Misfit Toys. Hard to argue with the premise, but here’s the real question: why not just sack up use a real iPhone, instead of this KIRF piece?
