AT&T is launching two new Samsung quick messaging mobile phones, the Eternity II (SGH-a597) and the Flight II (SGH-A927), both offer users a suite of messaging options at a great value, replacing theoriginal Eternity and Flight.

The Samsung Eternity II is a touchscreen phone with support fot AT&T Mobile TV allowing users to enjoy around-the-clock access to full-length live, simulcast and time-shifted programming from FLO TV. It has a 3-inch touchscreen, a 2 Megapixel camera with videorecording, Bluetooth 2.1, Enhanced GPS functionality such as fitness tracking, Smart Gesture and a microSD card slot. The phone also offers AT&T Social Net service for accessing social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and Myspace.

On the other hand, the Samsung Flight II is a touchscreen phone with a full, horizontal slide-out QWERTY keyboard that is ideal for sending text messages, instant messages, e-mail or updating your status on social networking sites. The phone comes with a 2 Megapixel camera,Bluetooth and expandable memory up to 16GB.

Both Eternity II and Flight II support tri-band 3G and quad-band GSM networks. The former will be available on 15 August while the latter is available exclusively at Radio Shack.

Samsung introduces in Korea the new Nori SHW-A220 touchscreen phone that allows customization. Designed for girls, users can personalize the phone with eight unique characters front plates.

The Nori features a 3-inch 240×400 touchscreen display, a 3.2 Megapixel main camera, a 1.3 Megapixel front camera for video call, integrated T-DMB tuner, GPS, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity. It also offers a microSD card slot.

Google is working on a speech-to-speech translation tool for the mobile phones. With this translator loaded on your mobile phone, you’ll have no language barrier while communicating with your foreign friends or business partners.

The Google Speech Translator for mobile phones shall allow the users to chat verbally with their foreign friends over the phone, without the need to use dictionary. The Google Speech translation works similarly to voice recognition technology where its has drawbacks that need to be ironed out including differences of voice, accent and pitch etc.

Gigabyte is by far not the most recognized brand when it comes to cellphones, in fact, it only makes a few smartphones for Asian countries only, all of which so far have been using Windows Mobile. Now, Gigabyte has introduced a version of its GSmart smartphone which runs on Android, a first for the company. The rest of the specs aren’t that interesting, a smallish 2.8″ screen and no 3G, but at least it only costs around $300 where it’s sold.

Korean phone manufacturer Pantech has rolled out their latest cell phone, the Sky IM-U560K. Designed for girls, the handset features a touchscreen display and an accelerometer allowing you to enjoy different games and application, as well as being able to completely manipulate its GUI via hand gestures and movements. The Sky IM-U560K features a 2.6-inch screen, a DMB TV tuner, an MP3 player, and a Korean to English TTS (Text to Speech) Translator. Too bad, there is no info on pricing of this cell phone.

Motorola has announced a new special cellphone named Quantigo. It is special because it is ruggedized, and also due to the material used on the outside which is rubber-coated with texture so it becomes easier to grip.

The clamshell type of phone has another special feature, which is being able to withstand a couple of different scenarios, be it 30-minute under water, or extreme pressures, or high/low temperatures, and even dust or blowing rain. The Motorola Quantico will become available later this year at Cricket Wireless, MetroPCs and other carriers. In terms of normal specs for a cellphone it includes GPS, bluetooth, and a 2.5mm headset jack.
