OCZ hits back with two new series of SSDs, the Agility 2 and Vertex 2. Available in 50GB, 100GB, 200GB and 400GB sizes, these 2.5-inch drives are equipped with MLC NAND Flash memory chips, a SATA 3.0 Gbps interface, TRIM support for Windows 7 systems and capable of delivering read and write speeds of up to 285MB/s and 275MB/s, respectively. The only difference between these two SSDs is that the Agility 2 only provides up to 10,000 IOPS of random write 4k performance, while the Vertex 2 offers up to 50,000 IOPS. The Agility 2 and Vertex 2 SSDs will begin shipping in the next few weeks through OCZ’s extensive global channel

OCZ’s Cryo-Z is an advanced cooling solution that uses the phase-change technology to achieve sub-zero temperatures at the CPU. The very cold air produced by the equipment is blown to a copper block that is attached on top of the CPU. The Cryo-Z has a built-in temperature monitoring and control circuitry that will keep the temperature at a steady level of -45 to -50 degree Celsius at the nozzle. If the temperatures fall outside a predefined range, the system will automatically be shut down by the Cryo-Z control unit. OCZ recommends the motherboard to be covered with silicone gel to prevent condensation. The OCZ Cyro-Z retails for $379.99. [FrozenCPU]

Man, talk about a letdown. It’s hard to put into mere words just how excited we were about the OCZ Z-Drive when we saw an early prototype shell way back at CeBIT, and now that it’s shipping out to affluent users, we’ve got a remarkably thorough review explaining that it’s probably not the dream device we were all hoping for.
