ASUS today rolled out the G73JH-X1 17.3-inch gaming laptop in the US market via Newegg. The laptop is powered by an Intel Core i7 720QM quad core processor with a 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 graphics, an 8GB of DDR3 memory, a 500GB hard drive, a DVD burner, an 8-cell battery and Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium OS. The G73JH-X1 features a 17.3-inch (1920 x 1080) LED backlight display. Additional specs include built-in stereo speakers, a 2.0MP webcam, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, an Ethernet LAN port, HDMI and VGA outputs, four USB ports, and an 8-in-1 media card reader. Weighing 8 lbs, the Asus G73JH-X1 is priced at $1,429.99

HP launches the affordable G62t series notebook PC that gets the latest Intel Core series processors. The 15.6-inch laptop features up to 8GB of DDR3 memory, up to 500GB hard drive and integrated HD graphics. The base model is equipped with Intel Core i3-330M processor, upgradable to Core i5 and even Core i7 processors.

HP G62t comes with a 15.6-inch 1366×768 LED-backlit display, a 8X DVD SuperMulti burner or Blu-ray drive, 5-in-1 card reader, HDMI port, built-in Altec Lansing speakers and optional webcam. It supports WiFi and optional Bluetooth connectivity.

The HP G62t series starts at $599.99.

Samsung Electronics has come out with a new notebook with the Samsung NT-R580-PS3MA. This new notebook boasts of a new 2010 Intel Core processor that is ably backed up by a NVIDIA GeForce with Cuda.

The notebook seems to be ready to deliver HD display with a 16:9 full HD LED and HDMI support, a webcam and an island style keyboard. Other features of this Samsung Notebook include the usual USB connectivity, WiFi and will be running on Windows 7.

Gammatech unveils another rugged laptop with the Durabook D14 E-Series. This rugged laptop comes with 1TB of storage and features a 14.1” screen and loaded with specs that include a Core 2 Duo processor greater than 2GHz.

The Durabook D14 E-series also comes with 8GB RAM, RAID-0 or RAID-1 for dual 500GB hard drives. No word on pricing for now but this rugged notebook will surely be something ideal for business and people who need a mobile computing device on the road.

With so many different factors to consider when purchasing a laptop, finding the right one can be a daunting task. Portability and battery life are the current trends, along with value of course, which has brought about the recent surge of netbooks. However as I’ve said before — and I still stand by the statement — netbooks are great for simple tasks, but lack the power to be more than a supplement to a real notebook or desktop system. LG Electronics of Korea today released the Flatron W30 series notebook monitors (LG W1930S and W2230S) in South Korea. Available in Apple Mint, Jelly Pink, Oreo, Hawaiian and Blueberry, these monitors are designed for netbook users who want to enjoy movies and games in a bigger display screen. The LG Flatron W30 Series features 30000:1 contrast ratio. The 18.5-inch model (LG W1930S) is priced at 270,000 Won($228), while the 21.5-inch model (LG W2230S) retails for 310,000 Won($262). We’re still struggling to figure out why every PC maker in the universe has decided to debut at least one or two new Windows 7 machines today, but while we spin our wheels in frustration, we’ll point you in the direction of LG’s latest. Viewsonic’s already announced a few new laptops in advance of that little Windows 7 launch, but it looks like it’s saved its biggest guns for the last minute, with it now introducing a whole range of new models in Taipei. The stand-out of the lot is the company’s new ViewBook Pro (pictured above), which packs a 13.3-inch display, low-power Core 2 Duo processor, and a fairly unique interchangeable optical drive / second battery into a slim aluminum enclosure. At this point you know pretty much all there is to know about the amazingly thin (0.6-inches), light (just 1.4 pounds or 2.2 pounds with extended battery wedge), and expensive ($1,299 base) VAIO X ultra-portable laptop from Sony. The only thing missing were tests to confirm or deny Sony’s claim that the VAIO X battery lasts "all day and well into the night and will set the new standard for battery stamina," as proclaimed at its IFA unveil back in September in Berlin.
