HTC abandons its plans for Google Chrome OS tablet
Author: admin21 Jan 2010

At CES 2010, there were a lot of tablets on display, and everyone is saying that this is the year of the tablet. Unfortunately, there is one tablet that won’t be made, at least for now.
Apparently, there was a rumor that HTC was working with Google to make a Chrome OS tablet. However, the marketing director says no, and that they are concentrating on making Android-powered smartphones instead.
I suppose I should say “too bad”, but considering the amount of tablets on the market, I don’t think we’ll notice one missing.
HTC Legend still looking good
Author: admin14 Dec 2009

We got a pretty good glimpse of HTC’s rumored Legend back in that huge roadmap leak a few days back, but now we’re circling back for a better shot (and a few more details) of the probable Hero successor in all its roughly-rendered glory. High-end aficionados are probably still going to want to set their sights on the Bravo (or the Google Phone, Nexus One, Passion, what have you), but this sucker won’t be a slouch, either — it looks like it’s signed up for a 600MHz MSM7227 and, more importantly, a WVGA display. We’d already known this from the last leak, but what’s new here is the presence of HTC People II and Footprints II, suggesting that Sense is going to get some sort of refresh to commemorate the launch. Add in the alleged metal casing, and we bet this thing’s gonna be a looker in the flesh; needless to say, March can’t come soon enough.

HTC’s handset releases for the first half of 2010
Author: admin8 Dec 2009
If HTC’s trying to keep their device releases top-secret, they’re not doin’ a very good job. While individual leaks seem to be rare, they seem to be making a habit out of bundling up all their upcoming releases into one big presentation, which in turn leaks all over the internet. It happened right at the beginning of 2009 and, sure enough, it looks like the first half of 2010 has already been locked down and leaked out.
HTC ‘Touch.B’ is an Android-powered Touch2?
Author: admin2 Dec 2009

If you glance at this thing for just a fleeting instant, you might actually mistake it for a Touch2 — but it’s not. A closer look at the button layout shows a decided lack of keys required by WinMo 6.5, which leads us to the logical conclusion that the so-called Touch.B here — previously known under the codename "Rome" — runs Android. MobiFrance doesn’t have any additional details on the phone, its specs, or where it might launch, but if it does in fact run on the Google juice, it’s looking like a possible successor (or kissing cousin, perhaps) of the Tattoo. Now that we look at it, we’re not actually seeing the buttons that’d be required of an Android device, either — and we have heard rumors for ages now that HTC would be releasing devices running a homegrown dumbphone platform
HTC Hero caught running Android 2.1?
Author: admin30 Nov 2009

HTC promised the world an Android 2.0-based firmware for its Hero line once it figured out the nitty gritty details of porting Sense to Google’s latest code, leapfrogging Donut altogether — but now, it looks like they’re gonna do one better. Screenshots found today show a Hero running Android 2.1, which would dovetail nicely with the fact that Google had teased a "minor update" to 2.0 before the end of 2009 back when it announced Eclair last month. The interface looks largely untouched from 1.5, proof that HTC was able to bring Sense up to speed with minimum drama; it’s unclear when this’ll all be available, but considering that Sprint’s version just got a super-minor update,

Cellular South is desperately trying to remedy a situation which it seems to have overlooked. After announcing the release of the HTC Hero last Monday, it just took them a couple of hours to find out that their supply was insufficient. With the high demand, Cellular South announced that they will replenish their supply by this week as the HTC Hero frenzy continues to heat up. And at only $99 after a mail-in rebate, Cellular South better make sure that their replenishment order is more than enough to supply the mob aching to have this device which comes with built-in Google services.

Here is a video of CoPilot and TomTom apps being tested on an HTC HD2 with WinMo.
Looks pretty sleek. However with CoPilot landscape mode isn’t all the efficient for making use of that screen. TomTom does a better job. HTC HD2 is a giant phone by the way…
