Dell Froot Concept Design Does Away with Keyboard, Monitor
Author: admin18 Jan 2010
With the environment and sustainability firmly in mind the Dell Froot concept saves the planet courtesy two projectors: One for the virtual keyboard, and another for the monitor.
Designed by Pauline Carlos as part of a sustainability contest sponsored by Dell, the Froot also uses a colorful case that’s constructed out of a biodegradable starch-based polymer. As it’s a futuristic concept, the lack of a mouse is understabdable—we’ll no doubt be using our brains by then.
More seriously, Pico projectors are *almost* there, but not quite, otherwise I’d be asking why this is still just a concept
Dell MX11 Gaming Netbook
Author: admin14 Jan 2010
We have already covered the gaming netbook from Alienware, and CES 2010 gave attendees a chance to look at the M11x up close.
The M11x has an Intell Core 2 Duo processor and Nvidia GeForce GT 335M GPU. The screen is at 11 inches with a 720p HD display for 1336 x 768 resolution. The battery life is good for 3 hours of gaming time, and 6 hours of regular use. The wireless internet can be accessed via ordinary SIM card, and you should expect it out in February 2010.
Unfortunately, it looks like the $1000 price tag still applies.

Dell Vostro V13 is $450, .65 inches thick — and only official in Singapore
Author: admin8 Dec 2009

You had to know Dell’s comically secretive product launch strategy would eventually break down, and here we go: although the company is teasing an "unnamed $450 Vostro" to US media, Dell Singapore has just gone ahead and launched the thing officially as the Vostro V13, complete with specs. Oops. While Dell PR tries to put out that fire, we can dance in the rubble and tell you that Dell’s putting everything it learned building the Adamo XPS to some more practical use in the .65-inch thick, sub-3.5-pound V13, which packs either a 1.2GHz Celeron, 1.3GHz Core 2 Duo or 1.4GHz Core 2 Solo with integrated X4500MHD graphics under that 13.3-inch screen. Sure, the design isn’t as wild as the Adamo XPS, but the extra thickness means that it can accommodate an Ethernet port, along with eSATA, USB, an SD card slot and even a freaking ExpressCard slot. All this for just a confirmed US$450 on the low end? Okay, sign up up. Hit the Dell Singapore link for more pics and a nice 360-degree view.

Dell Mini 3i OPhone detailed ahead of this week’s China Mobile launch
Author: admin23 Nov 2009

After so much speculation and rumor, it’s hard to believe that Dell’s first modern cellphone is ready to launch. And while we’ve already seen the official press release announcing the Mini 3 for Brazil and China, today we get a followup release with a bit more detail. As expected, the Chinese Mini 3i variant is quadband GSM/EDGE only (no 3G) and packs a 3.5-inch nHD, 640×360 touchscreen display just like that found on Nokia’s N97. The 58.35 x 122 x 11.7-mm OPhone will ship in "Red Passion" and "Oiled Bronze" colors packing Bluetooth, a 3 megapixel auto-focus camera with flash and video capture mode, microSD slot, and GPS with pre-loaded maps. And in case you’re wondering why China first, that’s easy: Dell’s going after China Mobile’s 500 million subscriber base when its first handset hits authorized stores later this week.

Dell’s Adamo XPS now on sale starting at $1,799
Author: admin18 Nov 2009

Dell’s slimmest laptop ever still isn’t shipping out to eager consumers, but at least the Win7-packin’ Adamo XPS is now configurable over on the outfit’s website. The base $1,799 configuration includes a 1.4GHz Core 2 Duo SU9400 CPU, a 128GB solid state drive, 13.4-inch WLED panel, 2 megapixel camera, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, GS45 integrated graphics, WiFi and a USB Ethernet adapter. Unfortunately, hardly any of the components are upgradable, but there are a few select upgrades available for those with the cheddar. The scary part? That December 22nd estimated ship date. Better spring for overnight and cross those toes!
Dell Mini 3i officially set for imminent launch in Brazil and China
Author: admin13 Nov 2009
It would appear those leaked and unintentional early peeks at Dell’s first foray into smartphones did not happen in Brazil and China by accident. Hans Erickson of Dell Latin America has announced the decision to "give priority" to those two countries, who will be first to experience the Mini 3i’s Android glory, with China receiving devices "in the coming days" and Brazil getting ‘em later this year. Interestingly, China Mobile will be making do without 3G, while Brazil’s Claro will be offering a 3G-enabled handset. Dell remains mum on pricing and the rest of the spec, though all the information so far indicates that Brazilians will be able to buy the same WiFi-packing FCC-certified 3iX handset that’s heading to the US. Either way, we’ve got another heavyweight’s presence in the smartphone market, and we’ll be even happier once we know what Dell’s value-add will be.
