Latest Mac OS X 10.6.2 beta build brings back Atom support
Author: admin5 Nov 2009
Now, it seems, as reports that Apple might kill atom may have lent their support during the next update Snow Leopard a bit exaggerated, as the latest developer version of OS X 10.6.2 (10C535) was obviously Support Processor restored while lightening the spirits of the Hackintosh world. Moreover, there has seemed to be no explanation for the switch-a-roo from Apple that would like Engadget notes indicate that there is an error or just a temporary measure – of course also say that Apple will once again just as easily switch on a switch when it is appropriate (keeps as seems to be a minimum of 50 / 50 shots).[Via Electronista]

Atom-powered Cowon W2 leaked, could be crowding in on imaginary tablet territory
Author: admin2 Nov 2009

If there’s one thing we like more than a flesh and blood slate tablet PC, it’s one with zero launch specifics or imagery, and hopefully a dearth of specs. Cowon’s delivering the former in spades, with the leak of the Atom-powered W2 MID on a Bluetooth.org certification page. Of course, calling it an internet tablet might be reading in a bit much, but it seems a good fit for Cowon’s sensibilities and background up against that Atom processor under the hood. We suppose we’ll just have to wait around to learn more, but this could be the start of a beautiful rumoring relationship.[Via DAP Review]

Microsoft has already started allowing netbook manufacturers to load Windows 7 Home Premium on machines without restrictions, and now Fudzilla says Intel will lift the 1GB RAM limit from Atom machines when the 1.83GHz N470 Pine Trail chip hits in March.
