Archos 9 pre-orders reportedly delayed until December, retail release pushed to 2010

Well, we just caught sight of it in all its dissected glory courtesy of the FCC last week, but it looks like the Archos 9 tablet / media player may not be quite so close to a release after all. According to UMPC Portal, Archos now says that the initial batch of pre-orders won’t start shipping until "early December" — well past the already-missed October 22nd launch date — while the retail release has been pushed back all the way until sometime in the first quarter of 2010. Let’s just hope the price doesn’t keep going up in the meantime.
Archos 9 PMP sneaks into the FCC, gets dissected when caught
Author: admin15 Nov 2009

Archos has already made it abundantly clear that its Windows 7-based Archos 9 media player is US-bound, but just in case you were worried over legalities, this FCC filing should crank your stress level down a notch. Best of all, this particular entry includes external and internal photographs, meaning that the camera-toting employees within the deep, dark FCC labs are actually credited with handling the (admittedly messy) dissection. Shocking pixels await you in the read link, so make sure you go in fully prepared.

Super cheap Archos 1 Vision DMP set for release this month
Author: admin7 Nov 2009
Archos has been on a real PMP tear as of late, releasing the Archos 2 Vision, 3 Vision, and the Clipper all in one pop back in August. The company’s now launched yet another Vision model, the entry-level 1 Vision. This tiny little 4GB dude has a 1.5-inch LCD and supposedly gets about 20 hours of battery life per charge. No video support in this puppy, but the €30 (somewhere in the realm of $45) pricetag should temper some of your crushing disappointment over its lack of features. The Archos 1 Vision should be available in Europe by the end of November.

Archos 9 up for pre-order in America for $50 more than anticipated

Uh, Archos? You do remember telling us that your Archos 9 media tablet would ship on October 22nd for $499 back in late September, right? ‘Cause if our eyes are being truthful to us, that’s not at all what’s happening here. The outfit’s official web store has the 8.9-inch device listed (complete with Windows 7 Starter, WiFi, Bluetooth and a 1.3 megapixel camera) for $549.99, and worse still, it’s only up for "pre-order." You know what happens after the second strike, right guys?
Archos5 Android PMP now on sale at Amazon
Author: admin8 Oct 2009

Considering the tablet rumors swirling lately, we find it rather funny that Archos calls the new Android-based Archos5 an "Internet Tablet," but they’ve been doing it for so long we suppose they’re allowed to cash in on the hype a little, right? In any event, the 5-inch PMP is now on sale at Amazon for in both 160GB ($390) and 32GB ($370) sizes — yep, you can finally buy a non-phone Android device, and it’s a pretty capable media player too boot, even if the usual Archos resistive touchscreen issues get in the way. Still, we know quite a few of you have been waiting for this — anyone throwing down?
